Students host all-you-can-eat pizza and wings dinner to support breast cancer awareness

Can eating pizza and chicken wings help prevent breast cancer? Three Pennsylvania teens proved that it can!

Those who are passionate about breast cancer awareness will walk for dozens of miles, wash cars in inclement weather and attend a slew of formal galas. However, for those who prefer a more casual approach to fundraising, three high school juniors from Dallas, Pennsylvania, decided to host an all-you-can-eat pizza and wing night at the Checkerboard Inn in Shavertown, according to the TimesLeader.com.

The three Pennsylvania natives, Stacie Runscavage, 17, Jen Corbett, 16, and Erika Sims, 17, posted fliers in the area to advertise the event and went door-to-door in their neighborhoods asking for donations, the news source reports.

All in all, the tireless teens, who wore pink tie-dyed shirts on the big day, procured 1,000 for the cause.

Individuals who plan to organize breast cancer awareness events in their own town can use this example of an unconventional fundraiser as an inspiration.

According to the American Cancer Society, women should begin having annual breast cancer screenings at the age of 40, but those who are at high-risk for the disease may consider beginning their screenings earlier, at age 30.
